MLM Leads Are Trash…Kinda
Ever tried out business opportunity leads?
They’re pretty stinky.
Doesn’t really matter when you buy them – they have all been sold and re-sold a zillion times, so that by the time you speak with a prospect, they’ve already spoken to 3 or 4 other people with competing opportunities.
Most of them are pretty expensive too. They cost as much as $20 per lead!
Now, are leads a waste of time?
Yes and no.
It depends on the lead.
Some leads are good, some are bad.
Business opportunity leads are nearly always a waste.
They aren’t targeted at all.
They cost too much.
They are too oversold and resold.
However, leads that you can utilize based on the merits of your product and service are cool.
Here, you can target based on what your prospect has already done. So if you are selling a health and wellness product, you can target people that have already purchased a health and wellness product.
Why would you do that?
Because people are creatures of habit. They buy habitually, live habitually, and die habitually.
So people who buy health products like buying health products. It’s a buying habit.
People who buy toy trains like buying toy trains. It’s a buying habit.
People who buy rocky road ice cream like buying rocky road. It’s a buying habit.
You can use buying habits to target leads better. And more targeted always means better results.
These types of leads are not only more targeted, but also much more affordable.
Like, $0.20 per lead (or less) affordable.
You can also generate your own leads.
This is really cool, as it allows you the benefits of positioning.
You also get informed leads.
You know where they’ve been.
You know what they are responding to.
You know what they are interested in.
And that’s powerful.
Because if you know what your prospect wants, you can give it to them.
Simple, eh?
That’s what marketing is all about.
