MLM Online Marketing – Why You DON’T Want To Advertise
-
(Due to the nature of this material, it will be broken down into multiple posts. This is the first.)
So many MLM and network marketing companies today are laying down the law with their associates, using intimidating language to try and prevent their reps from advertising their product and opportunity, and making claims in the name of the company.
I can understand their position. It’s actually a really good thing for the average distributor.
Here’s why.
First, the reason that these companies make these rules is because over-zealous distributors can sometimes make “optimistic” product and income claims.
Doesn’t matter if the it is their reps or not – guilt by association kicks in, and when someone decides pursue legal action for such claims, it isn’t going to be the distributor in court – it’s the company.
That’s why MLM companies are so skittish about allowing their reps to advertise their product and opportunity directly.
But the cool thing is that you wouldn’t WANT to advertise those things directly, even if you could.
The reason is the fundamental difference between advertising and marketing.
Here it is:
Advertising sells products.
Marketing sells offers.
If you didn’t just have an “ah ha” moment, you should read that again.
Unless you have capital to burn, you should be a marketer, because marketing is:
- trackable
- more effective
- gives greater ROI
- gets infinitely higher response when dealing in a person-to-person environment
Big network marketing companies already know this.
That’s why they chose network marketing in the first place.
Heck, they even included it in the name of the model:
Network marketing.
Multi-level marketing.
Direct response marketing.
They don’t call it network advertising.
Or multi-level advertising.
So don’t advertise the product or opportunity.
Instead…
Market offers that compliment your product and opportunity.
