TopI just read the article Setting A Schedule Part 2 – The Story Of Two Hats and I think I have learned a thing or two about how to think like an employer. I agree with Martin Lightbowe that if you are the boss, you shouldn’t let your employees run all over you. You have to have a priority list, you have to have control over when and how your employees should work, and you must know ahead of time if your budget will allow you to pay your employees for the number of hours that your employees work. A couple of year ago, I was a workaholic. My boss allowed me and the rest of the employees to sign in and sign out at our own free will. I didn’t think anything about the company buget. I worked a lot of hours, thinking that I was helping the company accomplishing a lot of tasks by working over time. The result the company lost a lot of money because of me. After reading Martin Lightbowne’s article, I have a sense of understanding of what it takes to be effective employers and employees.
