Have you wondered what this whole “credit crisis” is about?

There are a lot of buzzwords that have been used, but not a lot of real, down-to-earth explanation of how it works.

This breaks it down for you:

Props to Kraig Ward to turning me on to this.

That was fascinating; I had a vague idea about what was going on, but this is a great explanation. I plan on watching it a couple more times, since sometimes this kind of stuff just sails right over my head, but he breaks this down so that anybody can understand.

Credit crisis is nothing but the wrong assessment of their own financial position of each individual leading to the country’s financial instability. Hence it is the duty of every one of us to be more careful while financial planning.

I used to worship Greenspan for his legacy of righting the economic maladies from 1987 to 2006. Twice Greenspan turned around the economy after the stock market crash in 1987 and once more after the dotcom bust in 2001.

But now I’m not so sure. He totally underestimated the potential devastating effect of the subprime mortgage on our economy.

I think the credit crisis and the current economy is the effect of big business doing whatever it wants to do. Unfortunately the government feels that it needs to bailout the private sector. If we screw up on our bills will the government fix it for us?

Excellent video, one of the best concise explanations I’ve heard yet. The only thing that I’d probably add is an explanation of how Credit Default Swaps make the whole thing even more interconnected.

Excellent and Truly informative video i have ever seen.I think, common people are not responsible for credit crisis but they are most affected by sacrificing their jobs.I am really surprised how these so called ‘trustworthy rating agencies’ still working ?

You have very intelligently described the credit crisis with the help of a video. It really works for those who are not willing to read out the whole article about credit crisis.
    Thanks.

Saw it earlier on youtube, very interesting video. Explains the whole credit crisis situation very perfectly. The current global recession is relies mainly on this concept. Financial planning must definitely be done very thoughtfully by everyone now.

Greenspan called the increase in spending and investment as “Irrational Exuberance”. Should have said it more clearly that we were borrowing too much and if one of us ended up defaulting we’d be in trouble. Nice video, I have seen it before in my Economics class.

It is good that someone can explain what has been going on simply and clearly – it is all getting so complex and out of control now, it is hard to understand what is going on. I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel soon…
